Los Angeles is one of the main cities to contribute to the revival of Burlesque in the late 1900s. It has evolved from the original Victorian era inspired productions which were more comedic caricatures of serious plays to performances that lean more towards the heavily sexualized versions that current audiences now see along Sunset Boulevard.

To date, these types of tease theatrics take the form of highly evolved neo-burlesque styles. Current performances showcase more tease and are relatively more scantily clad than the original performers of 1840s. In addition, Modern burlesque has transcended beyond the gender, race, and body size stereotypes that were expected from old school burlesque performers.
